Overview

A common adjective that comes to mind is travel. Airbnb is an online marketplace that presents its customer base ability to lease or rent short-term vacation rentals, apartment rentals and home stays. With a focus of bringing people together by using technology, Airbnb has created a community that is focused on building relationships and experiences. It has been designed with two primary users: " Airbnb Host" and "Airbnb Guest". 

For this project, Airbnb will stand for something much bigger than just travel. Our goal is to intergrate a first-class means through its mobile app to increase the ability of event hosts and guests to find one another.

Problem Statement

Considering that many people struggle finding a perfect place for events that meet all of their requirements, how might we better connect them to unique private spaces?

Research Phase 1 

Screener Survey

To better understand the brand values, app, an current/potential users we sent out a screener and survey to gather quantitative and qualitative data about event planning in general.

Research Phase 2 

Interviews

We conducted a total of 8 interviews, 5 of the respondents were interested in using the platform as a “Event Planner”, and 3 had a space that they would rent as an “Event Venue Owner”.

Additional Research

Due to tight project deadlines, we're not able to interview a current Airbnb host. To supplement, we turned to the Host Community Center (an online forum for Airbnb Hosts) and various articles and blogs concerning the Airbnb host experience. Fortunately, these sources yielded large amounts of useful information.
